YMUNK Awards

The YMUNK Secretariat is excited to recognize delegates who demonstrate exceptional diplomatic skills, critical thinking, and a commitment to collaboration when engaging with complex global issues during our conference. Awards will be given out to the most outstanding performers in their committee. Such delegates exemplify numerous qualities of a successful diplomat—clear and persuasive speech, leadership, cooperation, and formality are only a few of those skills. Such delegates may have taken a leadership role in shaping the final resolution, introduced solution ideas crucial to final resolutions, or even challenged other delegates through skillfully asked questions. Above all else, they must have moved the committee forward substantially at all stages through their contributions.

The tentative distribution of awards for each committee is as follows:

  • UN Committees (GAs/ECOSOCs/RBs): 1 best, 2 outstanding, 2 honorable

  • Specialized/Crisis Committees: 1 best, 1 outstanding, 2 honorable

The following criteria will be evaluated in awards decisions:

  • Participation: this will be evaluated through speeches, sponsorships, and presentations of working papers and draft resolutions.

  • Skill: this includes the delegate’s skill in impromptu speaking, especially their ability to speak with eloquence and conviction. It also includes their ability to work in teams and the quality of their resolution writing.

  • Sportsmanship: this criteria seeks to reward delegates who serve as leaders in their committee, uplift other voices, and collaborate well with their peers.

**Please keep in mind that only those who submit their postition papers BEFORE the start of the first committee session of the conference will be eligible for the above honors.
